Profile of gynecological malignancies after the start of gynecology oncology surgeries in Sikkim-experience from a tertiary hospital in North East India

Background: North East is the “cancer capital” of India where there acute lack oncologists and oncology facilities. Objectives study were to evaluate trends gynecological malignancies need for facility in Sikkim.Methods: This a retrospective desk review conducted department obstetrics gynecology at Sikkim Manipal institute medical sciences, India, period three years after start surgeries. Women operated any malignancy taken into while women referred outside alternative treatment excluded from study.Results: A total 29 with during 3-year period. Of total, 17 (58%) carcinoma ovary, 6 (21%) cancer cervix uterus. Epithelial ovarian was most common cancer. 105 large complex masses three-year period, however, only diagnosed which 8 had stage I disease 9 advanced (stage III-IV). 12 underwent primary debulking surgery 5 interval surgery. Average age cervical 48 years, average 46 52 Conclusions: High number center offering minimum oncological surgical points towards specialized providing all needs treating cases
